The New River Valley Agency on Aging exists to support and enhance the lives of older adults, their families, and caregivers through advocacy, information, and services.

The New River Valley Agency on Aging is committed to finding more efficient and effective ways to respond to the needs of older adults and caregivers in the New River Valley.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY -

Care Coordinator/Options Counselor- (Full time position) The Care Coordinator completes comprehensive assessments, develops person centered care plans, and conducts case management services for older adults and persons with disabilities. The Options Counselor provides person-centered needs assessments, counseling and  referrals for individuals in need of long-term care supports. Candidate must possess knowledge of the principles of social work; knowledge of community resources; the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to advocate for an individual's needs and the ability to communicate effectively with persons of different socioeconomic backgrounds. Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field, excellent computer skills, experience documenting in a computerized system, and at least 1 year of case management experience. The Agency will occupy a satellite office located at the Floyd County Administration Building 120 West Oxford Street Floyd, VA 24091 on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.  You may call the main Agency office number to speak to a staff member stationed at the Floyd location (540) 980-7720
